Despite the losses to this rug the wonderful colour quality and sparkling drawing shines through in what remains of what must once have been a fantastic rug. The hooked field design is a complete version in what is more commonly depicted halved as large borders in these Bordjalou Kasak rugs. What can be seen of the white ground border is no guarantee of the extent since such rugs are commonly of square proportion. In short the fragment was once a rug that was something that was an outlier.
Since these photos were taken the once raw sides and ends have now been secured and the rug is perfectly sound to use.
