From the traditional weaving centre of Aubusson in France such tapestries were intended as wall panels for hanging between windows, hence the term entre fenetre. The expression entre fenetre literally transalates as between windows. The tapestry is very well preserved in excellent fresh and rich saturated colour, being unfaded. Wild Foxglove flowers feature in the lower part.
The piece comes unbacked and with a brass hanging bar, which attatches to large loose brass rings sewn across the top of the tapestry. The bar having elegant finials which unscrew in a swept back tripod design.
