Uncharacteristically the Kashmir chain stitch in is done on a lime/gold coloured velvet ground rather than onto a typical cambric cloth thus reflecting up the wool embroidery which stands proud.
If would appear not to have been used as a curtain but rather as a hanging and consequently not suffered from fading.
