540 x 252 cm // 17ft 8" x 8ft 3"
This impressive large antique long 'kelleigh' proportion carpet was made in the then independent Emirate of Bukhara not in the city itself but from an outlying workshop in the Amu Dyra river region just prior to Muscovite colonisation. The design is informed by motifs that are familiar in the carpets of Western Iran as is much of the internal ornamentation in that city. The damaged flatweave ends of the carpet have been tucked back under along with other other restoration work in Istanbul. This has shortened the carpet to around 5.25 or a little over 17ft.
To date September 2024. the carpet has not been re-photographed.
The carpet would serve very well in a large dining hall or even under a board room table
