Turkish Isparta carpet in Art Deco design (262 x 180cm)

£ 2,200.00

262 x 180 cm // 8ft 7” x 5ft 11”

A rather stylish, if unlikely carpet to have come out of Turkey and possibly made for the European market in the late 1930s. Potentially never exported, remaining in Turkey until present day. Alternatively and quite likely the 1970/80s work of flamboyant Turkish singer and cultural icon Zeki Müren.

The carpet is bound on all four sides so without fringes - probably reduced in size. The small faults seen in the pile is some parts are not fully repaired and the carpet has been re-washed a second time

• circa 1940
