Border section panels removed from a large unknown tapestry

The attendant figures on each side of the panels have sphinx like tails, whose representation has come down from Renaissance times and before Classical Egypt or Ancient Greece. The source of the decoration could be late Renaissance Deruta Maiolica tableware.
