This woollen shawl has been fulled to felt the surface and evidenced in the plain claret coloured field . The white cotton brocaded parts are typical of Berber weaving encountered across the Megrab. Functioning as a shawl mantle is somewhat unusual for such a fabric and the fulling has somewhat aided its the fabric by softening the density for use as such. Such shawls signify social status.
