This long Cauasian rug has never been used and is in brand new condition despite being the better part of 100 years old so one hestates to use the expression 'antique.'
The banded design in the field reflects a change of colour, which is due to whatever was available to the weaver at the time - the team must have run short of the basic blue and were thus obliged to use a substitute indigo that has faded unvenly.
