Caspian Rasht appliqué embroidered antique border (165 x 29cm)

165 x 29cm // 5'5" x 11"

This border piece has come from a large and very fine antique Caspian Rasht hanging and the felted wool cloth from which it is made consists of five colours which would have been manufactured either by Muscovites or a British source such as The Levant Company. The embroidery is done in silk. 

The fringes are almost certainly not original and the item has a dark stain in one small area pierced by a small hole.
