Caucasian Shahsavan antique soumak panels (48 x 58cm each )

 48(h) x 58(w) cm = 1ft 9" (h) x 1ft 11" (w)

This pair of soumak woven panels circa 1900 once have formed the side ends of an open trunk open from the top thus originally serving as a sort of portmanteau . There would have also been a matching pair of companion longer panels. The weave being not only highly decorative but also tough for a utilitarian role.
