Uncharacteristically, the Kashmir chain-stitch is done on a lime gold coloured velvet ground rather than a typical cambric cloth, thus reflecting up the wool embroidery which stands proud. It would appear not to have been used as a curtain but rather as a hanging and consequently not suffered from fading - lined with a fine cotton
