Axminster antique carpet fragment (57 x 48cm)

This small fragment is the centre part from what must have been a medallion. There is one fist size section of re-weaving, which has been done to a good standard but now slightly off colour to the original. 


Luscious colours, in good pile condition and secured by binding around the edges. Wool quality is excellent, probably coming from the local Devon / Cornwall longwool breed of sheep that gives very lustrous wool.
