Silk embroidery in the manner of crewel work was a popular revival of the what were once Jacobean four poster bed curtains revived during the period 1880 - 1920s stemming with from interest in the Arts & Crafts movement. The drawing betrays testament to the original oriental imports such as Palampors and other Far Eastern luxury hybrids. The eaxample possibly a later variety such as Chelsea Textiles.
