Aghabani is the name given to Levantine / Syrian silk embroideries. The name purportedly comes from two Aleppo families said to have started this type of work, Al-Agha and Al-Bani. Confusingly, the work in yellow silk chain-stitch may be attributed to Bengal.and the concept of the colour arrangement may well have originated from there in Bengal but in Ottoman times.
Another previous example we once handled came with the signature including the citation of the Northern Syrian city of Aleppo whilst another bore a more recent attribtion to Deizli ( in present day Türkiye.
