Although woven with a Caucasian Leshgi star motif, judging by the wool quality and weaving style, the bagface looks more associated with Jaf Kurd although it is single wefted unlike Jaf.

Very often in Victorian parlours such bagfaces were upholstered into armchairs and chaise longue daybeds. Our example here appears to be the survivor of such an application and although the wool pile is in excellent condition with superb colour, it has been punctured by nails at some point. All these small breaks have now been secured with darns.
