Japanese vintage split bamboo cane mats [3]

Comprising of three irregular sizes:
178 x 128 cm  //  198 x 120 cm  //  184 x 132 cm


These vintage mats are made from sections of large diamter cane split verically into thin segmemnts of around 2mm and atfully drilled and sewn togther. The surface has developed a glossy patina from from use and possible waxing . Each mat is unusually heavy at around 15 kilos each providing good stability. The species likely deliberately earmarked for purpose with Japan the most likely origin due to the sophisticated methodology employed.
