This high quality rug was made in the transition period when synthetic dyes starting were becoming more commonly with the introduction of anthraquinone-based acid dyes from 1890. The orange being the primary example here and likely one or two other colours. The blue cotton soumak wrapping at each has been retained and identifies the rug to the Kuba Seychour region with its split level weaving which distinguishes it from those of neighbouring Shirvan / Shamakhi whose structure is rather flatter.
The rug has various damages and breaks around the peripherally which has have all been stabilised with the addition of a hand sewn tape sewn verso at each. The rug has been cleaned as have all our rugs and is fit for use.
A complimentary non slip underlay pad will be suppled within the cost
