Caucasian Shahsavan soumak mafrash panel (46 x 102cm)

Originally part of a kind of portmanteau luggage case (mafrash), this section would have formed the side part of a three dimensional container, which would have been used for bedding in daytime and doubling as a storage container on migration. Made in a very robust flatweave soumak technique, nicely finished making a useful small mat.
