The Memon caste are muslim merchants who traditonlly inhabited Kutch on the Indian side of what is now the Indo-Pakistan border with Sindh. The remaining decorative embroidred piece, from what was once a yellow silk wedding dress, is not mounted to the fabric board as displayed here but rather it is sold loose.
