Balkan fine cotton brocade with gilt (200 x 111cm)

200 x 111 cm  6ft 7" x 3ft 8"

This unidentified cloth or more likely mat for the floor has been woven in three joined parts embellished with a weft float pattern in a supplementary cotton and gilt brocading onto a smooth patinated cotton plain weave base. The whole appears to have been burnished either probably from use or possibly in original manufacture.

The rug (?) has one small hole which is easily darned.
