Afghan Ersari carpet (325 x 230cm)

This is a type of traditional Ersari Afghan carpet of a type of which were once made in large numbers and almost ubiquitous as 'Afghan' but today few are made in carpet sizes, the weavers being Turkmen peoples living in the north of the country. Most often these were done in a hard red colour but this example is of a softer pinker hue.
