Balouch antique Timouri flatweave (262 x 152cm)

£ 900.00

262 x 152 cm  //  8ft 7" x 5ft

Superior sorts of Balouch weaving from Western Afghanistan are sometimes tagged 'Timouri', although it is doubtful these Indo-European peoples had anything to do with Timur (Tamerlane).

The flatweave comprises of two banded parts woven separately and joined together, which don’t align. Otherwise, the weaving quality is superb in execution, mixing plainweave, supplementary wefting, soumak and a brocade technique topped by small pompoms that interplay all in fine wool.
