The circular carpet resembles a shield. These were most popularly made as a cradt activity post WWII during rationing and the readicut company is still in existence to this day. The knotting is technically Turkish but comes on a ready made mesh rather than being woven on an open loom with the necessary short lengths of wool yarn sold in packets piecemeal.
