Likely by Pierre Dupont (d.1640) popularly credited as being the founder of French carpet making. The design appears to be that of what might be described 'Payslips of the Past' (Anna Beselins). Galerie Deroyan, Paris has a better and larger fragment from the same carpet as this was cut.
