Indian Banaras or Lucknow vintage silk stole (231 x 54cm)

231 x 54 cm  //  7ft 7” x 1ft 9”

Probably a Varanasi weaving, this fabulous luxury quality N. Indian silk stole with gilded brocades is hard to date but is rather similar to another previously sold by us from the family of Lord Dufferin. However, this, along with its shawl companion (Ref. 17293) look older / better.

Appears unused but oxidation has occurred to parts of the gilding brocades in one end
