Lourestan / Louristan vintage carpet (280 x 142 cm)

This rugged all wool carpet was made in Louristan and possesses all natural dyes. A label attached reading 'Mecca Shiraz' with the Imperial size is an amusing but nevertheless meaningless dealer lingo of a sort that probably dates to the 1930s. It alludes to the best carpets because pilgrims allegedly bought these as top quality gifts en-route on the Haj.

The carpet has had suffered splits which have now been fixed.
