The great carpets of Bidjar or Bijar as it can be spelt are famed for being ultra robust due to a very compacted weaving. Although not finely knotted the weight of these per square metre is considerable. There is a theory that suggests this type has inherited much from classical ' Vase carpets ' of the 17 and early 18th centuries. Our example has all of of these best qualities of the type and in natural dyes.
