French antique Tissue (159 x 153cm)

Technically described as Tissu in France and in England as Chintzing, this heavy technique of weaving can be recognised by the distinctive banding of each colour verso. 
The cloth has a high metal content.

Condition: the textile has a number of stains but the exuberant nature of the pattern renders these almost unnoticeable
