Turkish Anatolian antique kilim (397 x 172cm)

£ 1,200.00

397 x 172 cm  /  13ft x 5ft 8"

This kilim was made in the traditional Anatolian manner of two joined twin parts woven from a narrow loom possibly by a semi nomadic pastoralist group . Judging from the use of cotton and cochineal dye the piece would have originated from the Adana region of southern Turkey the group known collectively as either Rashwan or Reyhanli. The kilim has been used as a hanging tapestry evidenced from the brass curtain hoops attached verso and is therefore preserved in almost perfect condition.
