Shahrisabz antique small silk suzani (124 x 90cm)

124 x 90cm  //  4ft x 2ft 11"

Likely from the Uzbek town of Shakrisabz / Shahrisabz the birth place of Timur south of Samarkand. It is rather unusual but not unprecidented to find suzanis done onto silk from this region.
 Possibly the action of the dye has weakened the silk ground but the piece has been stabilised.
